The Garden of Redemption is one of the most distinctive places in the Antillo area, where natural surroundings, spiritual meaning, and community initiatives come together in a balanced and accessible setting.
Located in Contrada Cancello, approximately 3.5 km from the town center, the site is set within a hilly landscape in the heart of the Peloritani Mountains. Its natural layout, resembling an amphitheater, creates a sheltered and panoramic environment surrounded by rich and diverse vegetation.
The project originated as a socio-religious initiative promoted by the local parish community, with the aim of creating a space dedicated to hospitality, support, and personal well-being. The development of the Garden was made possible through the collective efforts of volunteers and benefactors, coordinated by Egidio Mastroeni, a key figure in the creation of the complex.
From a landscape perspective, the site is characterized by a wide variety of Mediterranean and mountain plant species, including oaks, chestnut trees, olive trees, pines, and broom. The access route and surrounding areas offer an immersive experience, with a continuous transition between natural environments that highlight the biodiversity of the region.
Within the Garden stands the “House of Providence,” a facility designed to host groups and organized activities. The structure includes 17 rooms and can accommodate between 24 and 40 guests. It is equipped with both shared and private facilities, as well as heating systems, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout the year.
The complex is used for socio-cultural initiatives and group activities, but it also represents a point of interest for visitors who wish to explore aspects related to local community life and the enhancement of territorial resources.
From an experiential perspective, the Garden of Redemption can be included in nature-based itineraries, serving as a stop during hikes in the Peloritani Mountains or as a destination for those interested in discovering a less-known yet meaningful location.
